Emergency Medicine Opportunities – Multi-Site Community System (Central Alabama)
Cross-credentialing within the system may be required.
Temporary privileges possible with clean file; otherwise standard credentialing timeline applies.
Site A – High-Volume Freestanding ED (Metro Alabama)
Qualifications:
- ABEM/BEEM only
- ACLS required
Facility Overview:
- ~36,000 annual visits
- ~2.3 patients per hour
- 37 ED beds
- Trauma Level III (currently on diversion)
- Cerner EMR
- No scribe coverage
- Admitting orders required
- Robust specialty backup available
Coverage Model:
- 33 physician hours (M–F); 28.5 hours (weekend)
- 28 APP hours (M–F); 27 hours (weekend)
- 8.5–9.5 hour shifts
- Mix of early, mid, evening, and overnight coverage
Site B – Community Hospital (Rural Alabama)
Qualifications:
- ABEM/BEEM OR ABFM/ABIM with Emergency Medicine experience
- ACLS and ATLS required
Facility Overview:
- ~24,000 annual visits
- ~2.2 patients per hour
- 11 ED beds
- 40 hospital beds
- No trauma designation
- Cerner EMR
- Admitting orders required
- Limited APP coverage (0–8 hours daily)
Shift Structure:
- 12-hour shifts (6a–6p; 6p–6a)
Site C – Community Hospital (Suburban Alabama)
Qualifications:
- ABEM/BEEM OR ABFM/ABIM with Emergency Medicine experience
- ACLS, ATLS, and EMS certifications required
- PALS preferred
Facility Overview:
- ~24,000 annual visits
- ~2.7 patients per hour (includes shared APC visits)
- 12 ED beds
- Level III Trauma designation
- Cerner EMR
- 12 hours daily APP coverage
- Admitting orders via diagnosis-based order sets
Shift Structure:
- 12-hour shifts (6a–6p; 6p–6a)
